A Week in Budapest
Well hello there everyone! Welcome back to my blog. As you will know from my last blog post, I recently went on a lovely trip to Budapest and it has given me lots of inspo for blog posts. I've already talked about styling for Autumn weather in the city and last week it was all about where to eat. So what is left? The best places to visit of course. So here you have it, my travel guide to Budapest.
Something I would strongly suggest you do when you visit this wonderful city is go on a boat trip along the Danube River. It is a truly amazing experience as you get to see every part of Budapest without having to do a tonne of walking (plus the one we went on gave us free Prosecco!!!) It is a lovely, relaxing thing to do on your trip away.

Another thing you have to do if you visit Budapest is spend some time in the Castle District where all the most gorgeous historical buildings are, like the Palace and the Fisherman's Bastian. The buildings are incredible and you will have many a photo opportunity here. The Palace is also the Hungarian National Gallery which is extremely interesting. You could literally spend a whole day here!

Another thing I would totally recommend you do is go to one of the many baths there are in Budapest. We went to the Gellert Baths on a rainy day and it was the perfect thing to do. The interior was incredible and the whole day was a very relaxing experience - something I would definitely do again.

Visiting the Jewish Quarter of Budapest is a must. Everywhere you look there are old crumbling buildings which I could not stop taking photos of! We went to the Dohany Street Synagogue which was so interesting and we learned all about the Nazi occupation of Hungary. There is the most gorgeous memorial for the Jews lost in WW2 in the courtyard - a metal bush with the names of those killed/lost engraved on them. There is also many a great place to eat here!
The design of the Synagogue is so intricate.

Finally, the last thing I would recommend to do in Budapest is go to the House of Terror Museum in the building that served as the former headquarter of the Nazi party in 1940and during Communism, the building was taken over by the State Security. Hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, were tortured in the House of Terror. The museum was hard hitting but a good way to learn about the recent history of Hungary. I would say it is definitely worth paying the extra money to get the audio guide as there is so much information to absorb and it’s easier to listen to it while you wander around taking in all the exhibits. The House of Terror is for sure worth a visit if you're in Budapest.
I hope this was useful if you're planning a trip to Budapest.
