How To Get Out Of A Style Rut

Hello there people! Right now, I am going through a faze of just pretty much wearing they same sort of thing day in and day out. This usually consists of light washed jeans if I'm going to be honest. (But who doesn't love white washed jeans?) It's becoming a problem! I am sure many of you have gone through the same thing so I thought I would talk you through 5 tips on how to get out of a style rut.

Try Something New
If you’re style is in need of a refresh, avoid simply buying more of what you already have. Seven pairs of jeans is probably enough, so why not try a some cord trousers with bell sleeves or some wide leg trousers with a fancy print? If you find yourself in a style rut, chances are when you go to the shops you’re looking at the pieces you know are good for you. But in order to shake things up, you need to look outside your comfort zone, try something new and experiment. Challenge yourself to buy something you’ve never bought before and most important of all, have some fun!

Start Small
The fact is, you really don’t need to by a whole new wardrobe to get out of a style rut. Sometimes the answer is sitting right there in our pre existing and over flowing wardrobes, you just need to rediscover it.
Take some time out and bring each and every item out of your wardrobe and lay it in piles on your bed. Tops in one pile, dresses in another and so on. Put back the pieces you wear all the time, and wonder what is it you like about them? What is it that makes those items your fail-safe pieces? Is it the colour? Or the style? Is it the print or fabric?
Then, go through the rest of the items and challenge yourself to style up your selected most worn items using the pieces that are left. Go for combinations you’ve never tried before and try them on. Take mirror selfies of the looks you love as a mental note to wear them that week or as soon as you can. This is a really fun way to find new combinations and new love for items you forgot you had.

Mix Up Colours and Patterns
Finding a new style doesn't have to be through trying on wide leg trousers for the first time or a style of dress you've never worn before. It can be through basic colours, prints, and textures that you opt for. Embroidery and velvet (and even glitter) are big this season, simply adding a little variety into your otherwise neutral toned denim and cotton wardrobe can really feel like a big shake up, even though everything else is the same.

Have A Look at Good Old Pinterest etc.
When you’re looking to give your wardrobe a little boost, whether it be seasonally or simply because you feel like you need a change from the staples you’ve become over dependant on, opting for a peek online will never let you down.
There are endless ideas and inspiration on that miracle of an app we all know called Pinterest and whenever I get a little bored of my style it is my fail-safe for changing it up a  bit. My 'Fashion' board is my pride and joy and tbh I could spend hours just scrolling and pinning. And don't get me started on Instagram! Now that I can save pictures, I have so many outfit inspirations just waiting for me.
Having a little collection of inspiration is sometimes just what you need to reinvent your style favourites, to inject something a little different or try something new entirely.  This is such a fun and easy way to get through your style rut.
