Alternatives to Jeans

Hello all! I know I have mentioned this a hefty amount of times, but I will say it again. There is nothing better than a pair of jeans; they are flattering, easy to wear and durable. I'm a big jeans lover, but saying that, I am trying to change my wardrobe up a bit with some alternatives to the classic light washed jeans. I have to admit, I've been struggling with this as jeans are a definite wardrobe staple of mine. You will often see me out and about in my amazing pair from Topshop (linked here) so it's been hard to get out of this style rut.

The first alternative to jeans I'm going to mention is culottes. I do love culottes because I feel they are super flattering. They nip me in at the waist, then skate over your hips and somehow elongate my legs. But sometimes I think it's safer to wear jeans as culottes are quite out there. I think the idea of a pair of black culottes is great as they can be worn casually but then spiced up to be worn as evening wear. The black means they aren't going to stand out a huge amount as I feel brighter colours are much more of a summery item.  My sister has a fab pair of gold ones and I am so tempted to get some for myself as they look so good on her! Next we have corduroy trousers. I so badly want a pair of corduroy trousers. However, I'm not entirely sure how I would style them. Whilst having a browse through Pinterest I found that corduroys were often paired with a graphic tee for a casual look and a thin knit for a cosy feel. A pair of corduroy trousers would be completely different from anything in my wardrobe which kind of draws me to them. Corduroy is extremely in this Autumn and Winter so I might just have to add a pair to my collection. (a pair linked here)

I only have one pair of patterned trousers and they are some lovely woollen gingham ones I thrifted a while back. I think they are a great way of bringing that summer trend into the colder months. These trousers paired with a knit are the perfect combination for a cold day. I would very much like to build up my collection, but I don't want to have any too wild prints. A monochrome pair just like the ones I'm wearing would be perfect to jazz up your outfit a touch without looking outright crazy! (a pair linked here)

A final alternative to jeans is the tailored trouser. A tailored trouser is usually super flattering but you have to be careful if you're going for a black pair as it can look a bit too like schoolish, if you know what I mean. I have a pair of mustard ones which are the perfect colour for autumn and winter. I fancy getting a navy pair sometime soon as I feel they are what my wardrobe is missing. Thing great thing with tailored trousers is that they can pretty much be worn for any event, no matter how casual or formal with just a change up of accessories. (a pair linked here)

Although I am feeling very inspired right now, I still can't help but feel that jeans are just easier to wear.
I hope this helped anyone stuck in the same style rut as I am. Please check out my Pinterest board on the topic and see if that helps you out further. Thanks for popping over and do come and say hey on my Twitter and Instagram.
