Budapest | Where To Eat

Well hello there everyone! Welcome back to my blog. As you will know from my last blog post, I recently went on a rather lovely trip to Budapest and it has given me lots of inspo for blog posts. Last week was all about styling for Autumn weather in the city and today its all the most important thing of all; where to eat. I'm a big foodie and when it comes to trips away, we pretty much just spend all the money on food - but hey, it's a necessity right?

I am a huge fan of Japanese food so when I saw Japanika just around the corner from my apartment, I just had to eat there. They have a huge menu, and it was the hardest decision ever to finally go with ordering Yakisoba (so yummy). I'm going to be honest here and say that the food was probably better than Wagamama - it was just so flavoursome. It is in the perfect location and has a great view of St, Stephen's Basilica (if it isn't pouring with rain like it was when we had our meal!) If you too like Japanese food then this is deffo the place for you.

The next place I recommend for eating in Budapest is Panoramia, a gorgeous little place right under the Fisherman's Bastian - a great piece of Budapest's history in the castle district. Panormia has a limited but delicious menu, and the view you get of the whole beautiful city will make eating here totally worth-while!

You cannot go to Hungary without having a try of a Funnel Cake - it's literally the most heavenly thing ever! Funnel cake is a soft dough wrapped around so that it looks like a (you guessed it) funnel with a super crispy crust.  They are easy to find as they are sold all over the city. I would definitely recommend the cinnamon ones the most.

The next place I would recommend is Bestia. You always know when you look at a menu and you can't decide between at least 3 meals that it is a good place for you, and this is most definitely how I felt. I went with BBQ chicken wings and  the gorgeous pork belly (it was the best). We sat outside and had the most amazing view to the Basilica. "Bestia" means beast so as you can imagine this wouldn't be the place for a vegetarian but I absolutely loved it! It has to be one of the best meals of the holiday.

It's always interesting to try some street food when you're in a new country. Karavan is a gorgeous little courtyard filled with little caravans selling all different types of food. it was so busy here and the atmosphere was great. I'm rather an Italian lover so I went for Bolognese, but I also really wanted to try the stews that came in a loaf of bread (a bread bowl!) as they looked so cool.

I could not forget to mention the oh so lovely New York Café. This café made me feel ridiculously posh and the cakes were just incredible. It was nice to have some traditional Hungarian treats. The New York Café is often described as the most beautiful café in the world and I totally agree - it was such a wonderful experience.

I had heard about Spinoza, a quaint little café in the Jewish Quarter of Budapest, so we made it our mission to have breakfast here one day. I had some extremely tasty pancakes (trenched with maple syrup of course). It was so homely and cosy and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. In the evenings they often have live music so if you ever get the chance to go here for dinner, you should.

Another restaurant I would definitely recommend in you're in Budapest is the very stylish Gustolato just around the corner from the Basilica and my apartment. I had a very delicious seafood pasta (my go-to) and a salad with a very spicy sauce to accompany it which I didn't try due to the warnings of my family! Gustolato honestly has the most extensive amount of desserts, pastries and gelato. There was too mush to choose from! But after much deliberation I went for Peach and Lemon flavours. They were the most flavoursome things I had ever tasted - way more than your average ice cream in Britain! If your around St. Stephen's Basilica I strongly suggest you try some.

On our last day we came across the cute little authentic Hungarian restaurant that is Kantin (canteen in Hungarian) and had a very tasty 3 course meal for guess how much: £8!!! How ridiculous is that? It so interesting trying proper Hungarian food like Rosé Duck and the tiny little dumplings they call noodles. If you're on a budget, you have to go here.

I hope this was useful if you're planning a little trip to Budapest.

Thanks for popping over and do come and say hey on my  Twitter and Instagram.
