Party Season Style
It's December, and we all know what that means; it's party season! I know I sometimes struggle for inspiration of what to wear 'out out' at this time of year so I thought I would give you guys some tips on how to style for the party season. This year, it's all about texture, so pull on the metallics, jacquard and go all-out with your velvet. This is the holiday season, so go bold or go home.
A little black dress is always going to look great. It is that one item that is completely timeless. It’s simple, effective and easy to put together for the party season. But everyone owns at least one classic LBD so how can you stand out in this sea of black? First of all, be bold. Party season is a great time to experiment and go over the top. Try a new style of LBD; asymmetric, strapless, sheer or peplum sleeved.
I can't forget to mention that black is a great opportunity to let your accessories take over. So why not skip the sequin dress and instead, work some glitter into your look with a statement bag or inject some colour with some jazzy jewelled earrings. Of course, if you really can’t resist the temptation to invest in a little seasonal bling opt for metallics instead. Accessories can really elevate a look, and I love experimenting with different items to spice up my party wardrobe.
A controversial look for a night out is a suit. I often hear people say that they feel their most sexy in a pant suit (for example, Megan Ellaby adores the things). It's something about feeling powerful and masculine. Take that oh so fashionable blazer trend to the next level with a velvet suit and some classic black heels. This is a classy yet sexy way to go on your night out.
Metallics are for sure a must have right now as they were seen all over the catwalks in fashion month. If you're wondering how to wear high shine looks, then I am here to help you. Of course, there are countless ways how to make glittering and shiny metallics look great on you, but you have to keep one thing in your mind: do not go overboard. If you're glittery on the top half of your body, tone it down on the bottom half and there is no need to over do the statement accessories. It's all about balance.
Believe me, I know it's hard to know what to wear to a smart casual do. So my suggestion is pair a statement top with your classic, casual jeans. Again this is about balance. You really can't go wrong with a pair of jeans and some ritzy heels.
