Winter Relaxation

Hello there! Christmas, as we all say, is the best time of the year. With all the parties, surprises and tonnes of food. This break is a fine time to unwind after a stressful year. Here are some tips on how to relax this winter.

Light a Candle
No matter how hectic life gets, there's something about a burning a festive candle that really calms the senses. Not only does it look so lovely: the warm light and the flickering flame, but the scent of a candle (or at least, a good one) can work wonders on a bad mood. Next time you're feeling tense and a little too uptight, grab a nice-smelling candle, light it, and let yourself enjoy the change in the atmosphere.

Tidy Your Room
Okay, I know. I told you that this was a blog post about relaxing and now here I am trying to get you to clean, but I promise it helps. Not only is cleaning extremely therapeutic once you get going, you're also creating a stress-free environment for yourself to enjoy until the next time you dirty the room. It's like they say: Clutter in the room = clutter in the brain. And we all know that having too much on your mind makes relaxing nearly impossible. Getting this out of the way is an unmistakeable way to relieve stress.

Read a Book
If you've been at school it's most likely you've been reading non-stop for months (and delving to ridiculous depths about the tone etc...). But I don't mean read just any book. And I certainly don't mean that you should read a book that's been assigned for a class. Grab an old favourite, sit yourself down with a blanket and a warm drink, and just really enjoy the beauty of familiar words. Coming back to an old book you know you love can sometimes feel like coming home. There is of course no harm in reading a new book your friends have been raving about, just as long as you know you'll like it. There really is nothing worse than being disappointed by a book!

Take a Bath
Baths are an absolute no-brainer when it comes to relaxation. Seriously, though, there's nothing like relaxing in a warm pool of clean water surrounded by good smells. Play some music or read that book I mentioned earlier.   Surround yourself with candles and just hang out in the bubbles, maybe indulge in a bath bomb or two. Let your muscles relax, enjoy some quiet time, and revel in the knowledge that literally no one will disturb you here.

I hope this will help you relax this festive season. Thanks for popping over and do come and say hey on my Twitter and Instagram.
