Knitwear

Hello! Winter is of course the time for getting your huge, cosy, oversized knits out. You really can't go wrong with knitwear at this time of year so I am here to help you style your knitwear so you can look oh so fabulous this winter.

When it comes to knitwear it is always a good idea to keep it simple for those casual, "I don't know what to wear", "I'll just throw anything on" kinda days. Sometimes a knit just looks best with straight leg jeans and your favourite pair of trainers. (This is how I styled my knitwear today!) It is a complete fail-safe.

But if you want something a bit more extra, play with layers by doubling up on one or two of your favourite knits: exaggerate sleeves, play with lengths and use your clothing to keep things interesting. For instance, a coloured or striped turtle neck under a more simple, monochrome jumper will keep you warm as well as completely finishing off the look. Layering is something you cannot go wrong with at this time of year. (A blog post coming soon all about layering!)

You could even try doubling up on textures to give off a bold, confident attitude, and don’t be afraid to show off with colour. Winter doesn’t always have to be as dull or as grey as the weather. You can lift things up with the type of texture that elevates your most-trusted knit. Take a basic polo neck and add colour, texture and print to either refresh last year's purchase or upgrade a brand-new classic.

The big trick when it comes to making an oversized jumper work is in mixing up proportions, textures and colours. Simply marry it with delicately detailed trousers, and some statement boots. If you want to create a bit more definition, tuck the front section of your jumper into your jeans, and leave the back hanging out (my favourite thing to do!)

If you're going 'out out', but don't want to ditch your new beloved chunky jumper, a bold and bright bottom half is the order of the day. So, dig out your brightest coloured trousers  and pair them with a knitted jumper and some eye-catching statement boots. You could even go for a metallic skirt if you want to be extra on trend!
