TREND: Ice Cream Girl
Hello my lovelies! In a previous blog
post I talked about this season's top trends and how there are endless
possibilities when it comes to styling this year.
So, instead of just skating over the trends, this
time I am going to go into more detail and show you how pastels can be styled
for casual looks and that they don't just belong on the catwalks. We saw a slew of sorbets come
down Spring/Summer 2018 runways — Tibi and ChloĆ© included — and thus, I assembled
your outfit guide to give a jump-start on your wardrobe for the season.
As much as I love a saturated, bright
pop of colour, there's an equal amount of space in my heart for pastels. These
soft, powdery hues not only translate to Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall, but
also play nicely with many of everyone’s favourite fabrics (denim, for
example).
To mistake the pastels of this season
as infantile or frivolous, would be a huge error. The soft hues on the runways
for Spring 2018 were anything but pushover. Making a statement, pastels were
shown in head-to-toe looks in strong silhouettes, leaving no question that the
pale colours were all business.
Why be subtle when you can be
statement-making? Team two pastel pieces together for a top-notch monochrome
look.
Give a pastel blouse the 2018
treatment by pairing it with wide-leg corduroys and trainers.
Ground multiple pastel hues with
neutrals like a sand-coloured jacket and white accessories.
Add edge to pastels with the
quick addition of raw-hem denim and fishnets.
If you're looking to punch up
your suit, why not swap in a pastel purple tee to break it up?
Play around with various shades
of pink for a flattering and feminine ensemble.
