Top Trends of AW18
Hello
lovelies! Today it is officially feeling like the end of Summer and the
beginning of Autumn, so what better to do than a blog post featuring my must
have, easy wear Autumn/Winter 2018 trends. I have been doing lots of research
and there are endless amazing trends this season, but I have decided to whittle
it down to only five top trends. So let's get on to trend number 1!
Everyone must be familiar with the check trend from last year, and
this year we've graduated from the simple return of the tartan coat or prince of
wales check trousers to unexpected pairings and plaid worn in new ways – such as
asymmetrically across a dress or head to toe in varying shades. This season,
try mixing your plaids in every way possible!
Animal print
prowled over a huge amount of runways across NYC, London, Milan and Paris this
year. Leopard-print coats and leopard-print shoes will undoubtedly be the two
most prevalent ways this trend presents itself on the high street, as you will see below, but there is also an abundance of more interesting patterns; zebra, cheetah, faux-croc—some of
which come in classic, neutral tones, but there are more wild and wonderful
multicoloured versions out there too.
If brown
just feels too dull for you, then take solace in a much lighter,
brighter range of dusky, powdery blues. Designers have adopted this
traditionally more summery hue for the winter months by using it for trouser
suits, heavy coats and cosy knits. It looks great with other punchy pastels but
just as season-appropriate with oodles of black: see Dries Van Noten's black pencil skirt and cornflower sweater look for a great starting point.
There were some more literal takes on '70s fashion on the A/W 18 runways, but the way
it will affect street style is via the colour brown, mustard and beige. From
Fendi's beige-and-chocolate monogrammed clothes and accessories through to ChloƩ's
entire ode to every possible shade in this spectrum (often all worn within one
look). I can definitely say that brow is the new black.
This
season it is all about showing off. Literally wear it on your t-shirt or bag and
tell the world what you’re all about!
So, there you have
all the top trends of Summer 2018, in a nutshell. Step out your comfort
zone and take one of these fab summer trends out for a test drive. I hope you
enjoyed and thanks for popping over! Do come and say hey on my Twitter and
Instagram.
